PERI Launches Lightweight Polymer Formwork System DUO in the US

Engineered polymer replaces steel, aluminum and plywood

Lumber, steel, aluminum and plywood have been the standard for decades in the US when it comes to formwork due to the lack of cost effective and sturdy alternatives. PERI is challenging this notion with its brand new Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) formwork system “DUO”. The engineered plastic achieves its strength through fiber reinforcements, thus allowing a permissible concrete pressure of 1050 PSF for walls and 1650 PSF for columns while maintaining the lightweight attributes of polymer.

Lightweight, Handset System

With only 4 lbs per sq. ft. and conveniently shaped standard panel sizes of about 3 ft. x 4½ ft., DUO is a true handset system, specifically designed to be man-handled without the need for a crane. If crane time happens to be available, entire sections can conveniently be lifted as gang forms using a simple crane hook connector.

Labor friendly

Very few parts and pieces and an intuitive assembly sequence makes DUO ideal for markets with a shortage of skilled labor. Instead of hammered-in wedges and clamps, DUO panels are connected using a red coupler that resembles a door handle in both appearance and in the simplistic motion in which it is installed.

Flexible Application

One of the truly unique features of DUO is the ability to use the same panels for walls, columns and slabs – with only a few extra parts required for the conversion, this not only saves on initial investment costs but also on storage space and trucking costs down the road.

Silent System

For the most part, DUO is assembled with no tools, resulting in significant noise reduction on the job site, which in turn makes DUO a preferable solution in areas where construction noise is a concern (i.e. residential).
